Understanding Dyslexia

The term “specific learning disabilities” refers to an array of learning difficulties due to abnormal development of the brain, which usually results in significant problems in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The most common form of learning disability is “dyslexia” – a difficulty in word recognition, dictation, spelling, reading comprehension and written language processing. Some schoolchildren may also have difficulty in numerical processing.

In accordance to the latest announcement made by the Education Bureau (EDB) on 11th April 2022, Pathways Learning Centre (Kowloon and Shatin) will resume face-to-face classes for primary school students on 25th April, 2022 (Monday). As for secondary school students and kindergarten students, face-to-face classes will resume on 3rd May, 2022. Due to the unstable condition of COVID-19, classes might switch to online teaching if and when needed.

Our centres will strictly follow EDB’s anti-epidemic guidelines upon resumption of face-to-face classes: all students must take rapid antigen test and obtained a negative result before attending classes and please declare the test result on the health declaration form provided at the centres; please also measure body temperature when entering centres. In order to further reduce infection risks at the centres, students must wear face masks and protective face shields at all times during lessons. A protective face shield will be distributed to each student, please keep it well and clean and bring it to class every time. They are available for sale at the centres if needed. If students appear to have feverish or upper respiratory tract infection symptoms, please inform the centre as soon as possible and stay home and rest.

To keep social distancing, parents please drop off and pick up their children at the door and not to enter the centres.

We would take into account the latest situation and review the class arrangement accordingly, please visit our website (pathways.org.hk) for the latest update.
